FEW THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME, JAY ANDERSON PHOTOGRAPHY & FILM YOUR WEST MIDLANDS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Basically, the lowdown on The Man, The Myth, That is The Tog in the Hat..
JAY ANDERSON PHOTOGRAPHY IS MORE THAN TAKING BEAUTIFUL PICTURES, IT’S ABOUT CAPTURING THOSE RAW, NATURAL MOMENTS’.
The way I photograph and film a wedding is a blend of contemporary documentary storytelling and refined, stylish portraiture. My work is raw, modern, and natural, focusing on real moments rather than staged ones.
What sets my approach apart is how I work on the day. I photograph and film weddings in a relaxed, informal way, allowing moments to unfold naturally while staying alert to the energy, emotion, and atmosphere around me. My aim is always to deliver imagery that feels honest, personal, and has that all-important wow factor — without ever feeling forced.
I’m constantly looking for strong light, thoughtful compositions, and interesting backgrounds that add depth to the story of your day. But above everything else, my priority is making sure you — and everyone around you — feel comfortable, present, and completely yourselves.
Every wedding is approached with fresh eyes. While my style remains consistent, the way I tell the story is always shaped around the couple and the day itself. I love capturing the spontaneity, spirit, and in-between moments, creating a natural and unique narration of your wedding as it truly happened.
MY PHOTOGRAPHY BUG STARTED WITH A POLAROID CAMERA AT A MUSIC FESTIVAL IN 2008, AND I HAVEN’T LOOKED BACK. I HAVE TRULY LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THE JOURNEY.
I’m a wedding photographer and videographer, based in London & the West Midlands, documenting weddings and portraits across the UK and Ireland, as well as internationally. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings in places such as France, Italy, Morocco, and North Carolina, USA, experiences that continue to shape how I see and tell stories.
Born and raised in London, I originally started my career in fashion buying and merchandising, working with brands including House of Fraser, Harvey Nichols, and Selfridges, before discovering photography and never looking back. These days, I split my time between London and the West Midlands, working with couples across the UK and beyond.
Outside of weddings, music, film, and television are a huge part of my life — and a constant source of inspiration. I try to get to the cinema most weeks, watching everything from old classics to the latest releases, and I’m always drawn to strong storytelling, mood, rhythm, and atmosphere.
Alongside this, street photography, street portraiture, and urban architectural photography play a big role in my personal work. Spending time on the streets, observing people, light, and movement, has a direct influence on how I photograph weddings — staying present, anticipating moments before they happen, and documenting the day honestly as it unfolds rather than forcing anything to fit.
If you’d like to know more, see more of my work, or chat about your plans, feel free to get in touch, I’d love to hear your story.
