The Shenoy’s Modern London Family Portrait

Kensington Gardens, London

The Shenoy family travelled from Austin, Texas to spend time exploring London, a city they’ve visited, loved and connected with over the years. Their trip was packed with everything that makes London unforgettable: the museums, the parks, the history, the architecture and that unmistakable buzz you only feel here. But when it came to choosing a location for their family portrait session, the decision had meaning behind it. Kensington Gardens held memories for them from past visits, and it was the one place they knew would feel both nostalgic and unmistakably London.

They actually found me on Google while planning their trip, searching for a photographer whose work felt modern, cool and a little bit editorial. They wanted a style that didn’t feel overly posed or traditional, something that had a relaxed, British coolness to it. When they came across my work, they said it matched the vibe they were looking for perfectly: contemporary, stylish and fun to play with. A look that felt authentically London without trying too hard.

We met on an autumn afternoon when the gardens were alive with colour. The leaves had shifted into warm golds and russet tones, and the low autumn light gave us that soft, cinematic glow photographers dream of. The Shenoys arrived dressed for the moment, coordinated, polished, but still very much themselves. You could see instantly that they were excited to create something meaningful, something that captured their family as they are now.

As we walked through Kensington Gardens, everything felt easy and natural. They laughed, explored, and moved through the space with comfort and joy. Nothing forced, nothing staged. Just a family enjoying a place that already held a piece of their story, now adding another layer to it.

What made this session special was the mix of nostalgia, travel, and style. The Shenoys weren’t just documenting a family trip — they were embracing a modern London aesthetic that aligned perfectly with who they are. A little bit British cool, a little bit editorial, and completely them.

A portrait session that felt both timeless and fresh, the perfect blend for a family who loves London
